Happy Easter! Definitely the most unique Easter any of us have had. We started the day with the breakfast of champions, Lenny’s actually looks pretty good if he would have eaten it. Ollie ate a chocolate muffin covered in butter and 4 slices of salami…
We were then off to Tsitsikamma to do a zip line canopy tour! The boys were very excited and we previewed it with videos before we left to try to make sure no one was going to bail when it was time to take the leap.
On the drive there we ran into a baboon family along the road which is always a cause for excitement, especially when they have baby baboons with them. Nice to see wildlife outside of your tent/house.
Once we arrived we got geared up and watched a safety video. The boys were still acting confident when we loaded into the truck to do the short drive out to the first platform in the forest.
Much to Kayleen and my surprise both boys took the leap without any hesitation. Later we laughed that at least as adults we understood what the harness, the clips, backup clip, and 3rd backup clip was all for. The boys, definitely Lenny, couldn’t have had any idea but still jumped off the edge of a platform 90 feet in the air with zero questions or concerns.
There were 10 zip-lines in total and they ranged quite a bit in length. There were a few where the end point was not in sight when you took off from the platform. All the platforms, except the first and last, where built on various types of trees, all over 100 years old. The main type was Outeniqua Yellowwood, one was nicknames Uncle Sam, and was over 600 years old.
Any damage to the tree bark is quickly painted with a hard black coating to prevent rot or damage from insects. There were not any backup trees of the size needed to build a platform so if anything happened to one of the trees that was in use, there goes the business.
After we finished we headed back towards Plettenberg Bay to a recommended restaurant called Enrico. It was right on the water and VERY popular, especially for Easter. The weather was starting to get rainy so their massive outdoor seating area became mostly useless and we ended up waiting 1.5 hours to get seated, they don’t take reservations. The boys were shockingly good for how long we had to wait.
We took our long wait time to pick everything we wanted from the menu. We were quick to order and the food came out so quick we did not even have time to get through one game of Uno.
Fortunately the food was worth the wait. The garlic bread balloon, called bamba, was a favorite and the calamari was advertised on the menu as all heads which it was! My homemade pasta was great and Ollie’s pasta had ~50 tiny clams in it. He ate near all the clams!

We were tired after all the events of the day and got a light room service dinner. The boys hummus & veggies along with french fries was likely their favorite meal of the trip since they got to eat it in bed watching TV.
