Up at the normal 7AM time and ready to go! Sadly it was rainy for most of the day but it gave me an excuse to use the wood stove in our little house which I enjoyed. It warmed the house up nicely, though it was only 60 degrees outside.
The boys played a game on the ClassDojo app where they had a small monster avatar who built small structures to try and collect coconuts. Seems pretty insane but way better then the normal trash they ask to watch. It was only for 30 minutes before we headed to breakfast at the clubhouse. We were excited for this because we were told at breakfast each day we would find out what activities are being offered for the day.
At breakfast we found out we could go Quad Biking, ATVing, in the rain with the kids. Also they would allow the kids to try and drive at one spot with our help. The boys were excited though they didn’t exactly know what we would be driving.
The breakfast was good and the clubhouse is great with the play area upstairs that the kids can go to when they get too restless at the table. Most of the other families we have meet have been English and the hotel staff told us Europeans and South Africans are the most common visitors. We are unique as Americans!
We tried out the new iPad apps for home school. The boys were into it and the math ones worked well for both kids but I need to find a better reading one for Lenny. The thrill of using the iPad made the school time go by faster for all.
Lenny discovered the ATVs out the window of the clubhouse while we were having lunch before our 1:30 ride started. Now that he understood what he would get to ride/drive his excitement matched our expectations.
We all got a helmet, goggles, and a poncho from the hotel before hopping on the seemingly brand new ATVs. Quite a change from a normal ATV rental with old stinky gear and questionable ATVs. We set off into the bush following our guide Ruben, along with another family of four.
The boys loved it! I was able to move Lenny to sit in front of me so he could see better. Ollie was to big to sit this way since he is taller and our helmets kept hitting but he was better at holding on when sitting on the back.
The other family had two daughters and the younger one did not like it at all. Half way through she had had enough and they were done.
The driving was mostly slow but we would wait for the others to get far ahead so we could go fast. Lenny asked to do this repeatedly and when it was his turn to “drive” he would floor the throttle with no regard for any potential hazards until I would smack his hand off. Such a thrill seeker…
Both boys gave it their highest star rating once we got back. For an unknown reason Lenny seems to always gravitate to the number 155.

After the ATVing everyone was wet so I lit the wood stove again to dry out our shoes and clothes while the boys played and attempted their best Macarena. Lenny’s needs some work but Ollie is getting pretty good.
Driving from the clubhouse to our cottage has been a thrill for both boys, as you can see from their faces. Once we get sunny days and we start walking I’m sure they will be disappointed but at least the rain caused some excitement.
Dinner at the clubhouse where we tried, and failed, to get Lenny to eat a steak from the kiddie menu. The steak was delicious but meant for an adult, I ate it. It was cooked medium to medium rare with a garlic butter sauce on it. Maybe I’ll make him get it again..
We played guess the animal I am thinking of but would only give the first letter of the animal and then hints if no one was able to guess it. We tried to keep it to animals we had seen thus far but eventually had to open it up to anything. Lenny needed help with the animals first letter so would whisper them into my ear. He sneezed or burped directly on the side of my face more then once during this process.
We played Ping Pong and Foosball upstairs briefly after desert but then told the boys it was time to head up for bedtime. Hoping for a rain free day tomorrow!
