Our big boat day is upon us! I was up early and went in search of our normal coffee and met Jeff who was wondering Split. He was still shaking off the remains of jet lag which had the benefit of getting him a quiet tour of Split starting at 5AM.
Our coffee spot did not open till 8AM so we grabbed coffee elsewhere. Then Jeff returned to rally his troops to meet at the boat for 9AM. I waited for our normal coffee spot to open at 8AM and then hustled back to find everyone still asleep in our apartment. We had packed our stuff the night before so just had to get the kids up to eat something and we were off.
The boat was called the Blue Shark and it was very nice and extremely comfortable. The best seats in the house were the three big loungers on the back of the boat. Laying there you felt no bumps at all even when going full speed, somehow the kids claimed those seats for nearly the whole day! We had the boat all to ourselves from 9AM to 6PM without much of an agenda so we gave the captain some guidelines and let him plan the day.

Our first stop was Brač Island where we pulled into a small town. We had all already eaten so this was the most unnecessary stop of the day but the little town was cool to see. We grabbed a few things at a bakery and then smoothies before hopping back on the boat to go to a quiet cove on another part of the island.
We had asked to swim somewhere that was not a major tourist attraction, like the Blue Lagoon, and the cove he took us to was exactly that. We were the only boat there with one other family hanging out on the rocky beach. The water was a crazy blue color, unlike the beaches in Split. We all jumped in and the kids tried out the snorkel gear on the boat after a few Doritos, thrown in by the captain, attracted a bunch of hungry fish. The snorkel masks didn’t really fit their faces so water kept getting in but for the few moments it worked we could tell how excited and shocked they were to be able to explore the underwater world.
Our inflatable raft came in handy again to help taxi people to the beach safely over the hundreds of sea urchins on the rocks. Brycen and Lenny took to smashing rocks together, trying to collect shiny little rocks (gems) from them. Ollie and Bradley where more interested in throwing rocks in the water and checking out the sea urchin I pulled out of the water with a stick. Once we were done exploring the rocks along the coast we headed back to the boat for our next stop.
This took us to another cove that was a bit more popular. It had a shipwreck, roughly 30 years old, and the mojito man. We flagged down the mojito man who pulled up on his little boat and luckily, we only ordered two gin mojitos for us to share. They were so strong two was more than enough for all of us. The shipwreck was interesting to see and parts where high enough in the water that if you were not paying attention, you could easily hit your foot on it. Soon we were called back to the boat to hurry to a lunch reservation the captain had made for us.

The boys provided some dancing entertainment for the group on our way to lunch.
The captain took us to Konoba Šešula for lunch on the island of Šolta. It was a small restaurant right on the water that we pulled right up to and the adults walked off the front of the boat. The kids probably could have done the same but instead got their own transfer to restaurant via a dinghy which gave them a thrill.
The setting and food were amazing. The kids were given some time on our phones to play games after they finished their lunch to allow us to all eat in peace. Pleasantly full and two bottles of wine later we made our way back to the boat for one final stop, the Blue Lagoon.
We didn’t want to come all this way and not see it so after a quick drive we were there. Anchored among all the other boats, the group jumps into the water begin. The water was the same blue as the cove we visited early. Everyone had a great time working on their cannonballs, dives, and front flips over and over. The captain gave me a pair of goggles used for spearfishing, I was looking for missing sunglasses on the bottom, and they were incredible. Everything was so clear I could see small flounder swimming along the sandy bottom easily, though no sunglasses.
Eventually it was time to head home and we were all surprised at how fast our 9AM-6PM boat day went. We cruised back to Split taking in the rock cliffs and having one last glass of wine.

Everyone came back to our apartment and the kid’s watched TV while we sat on the balcony. Jeff and I made the walk down the steps one more time to grab some groceries and pick up the pizzas we had ordered for dinner. Red (Jeff’s wife Danielle) said the pesto pizza was the best of her life!
After a complaint by the downstairs neighbor that the kids were being too loud, we decided it was time to part ways and all get to bed.
