We called for a no home schooling day so we could enjoy our last full day in Liseleje. Before we started to enjoy it Kayleen discovered an ant invasion! She noticed a few ants on the top floor and traced them back to a small hole in the caulking where the stairs met the wall. I found some ant spray and we sprayed the ones outside of the hole and then shot a few sprays into the hole…they started pouring out of it! We quickly plugged it with some rolled up paper and a toothpick. Once we confirmed no more ants where coming out we felt safe to start our day.

We planned to head to Hundested Harbour to check out these two small pools local fisherman put crabs and flounder in for kids to look at. My entering of the address in the van’s GPS, no Apply Car Play, instead took us five minutes away from Hundested Harbour to Knud Rasmussens House. There was a small light house there before we reached the cairn, pile of stones, built to honor him outside his house.

We then made our way to Hundested Harbour where we found the tanks for the kids to check out. The flounder one must have had at least 20 fish in it but most of the time all we could see where the little eyes in the sandy bottom.

Kayleen and I went in search of crabbing equipment so we could have some fun with the kids. The boys played at a nearby park with Meme and Papa while we searched. We eventually found two of the little crabbing poles and a net for sale back at the sand sculptor place we had been to the other day. Of course as soon as we returned to the crabbing area, by the viewing tanks, we saw they had brought out equipment to rent right there!

We all sat down at a nearby restaurant and tried to keep the boys calm while we waited to order lunch. As soon as the order was in the four of us were off to try out our new crabbing equipment. Before we were called back to eat we had caught two crabs, at least enough to have a crab race.

We finished lunch and the boys took Meme and Papa to see the two viewing tanks. They both were keen to keep crabbing but wanted to go back to where they had crabbed with Sophia, only an 8 minute drive, as this spot was too crowded for their liking. We agreed and all hopped back in the van for the short ride. It is a lot easier to pack up when the bait is just slices of salami and not raw chicken or dead fish.

Once we got to Lynæs Havn the boys were keen to get back to jumping on the giant blob so Kayleen and I snuck off to crab for 10 minutes in peace. It was nice and we caught 4 or 5 before the boys returned. They were upset that we did not have water in the bucket with our catch so Kayleen held Lenny’s legs and he dipped down to scoop some up, it was a successful operation.

We crabbed for a while and filled our buckets before heading over to the crab racing platform. After a few races, and crabbing near the race track in what Ollie called the “Crab Palace”, we had ice cream. Perhaps under the same umbrella that poor Sophia learned of her whip cream fate. Then it was back for another round of crabbing and a final race before we headed home.

Kayleen and I took the boys with us on a walk to the market once we got home with the promise to drive cars at a mini golf place in town. After a quick shopping trip, and briefly hunting for change to get some 20 Danish Kroner coins, we were ready to drive. Ollie took the red race car and Lenny the police motorcycle. The first lap was a complete disaster…. Ollie tried to make two hairpin turns that would have sent him going in the wrong direction on the track and Lenny was not able to turn quickly enough to avoid going straight into the wall. Luckily no one else was driving and the track was self service so no employees were witnessing this.

Kayleen helped straighten out Ollie’s car and explained to him where to drive and where not to. I jumped on the police bike with Lenny and my weight slowed it down enough that he could handle the turns. I made sure to keep my toes tucked inside the bumpers to avoid losing any. We walked home along the beach dunes and the boys watched Paddington 2 while they had dinner.

Once the boys were asleep Kayleen and I went to watch one last sunset from the beach. Going to miss the ability to leave the house once we are without family and friends!

We left most of the packing for tomorrow morning but made sure to get all the laundry going in the dryer tonight!
