We all split up this morning to do our separate things. I took Ollie back to the bike traffic park to practice riding. Lenny stayed with Meme and Papa to work on his Lego and do home school. Kayleen headed to the dentist to get a tooth checked.
The wet track at the bike park led to a few more slips and falls for Ollie but he still did his laps. He fell at one point and I was letting him figure it out himself but an older Danish man walked over quickly to help him.
After a failed attempt to stop at a bakery called Juno, due to a massive line, we headed home. Lenny was keen to continue his Lego construction so we moved onto the final third while Ollie did some home school. Once the Lego submarine construction was complete Ollie was interested in it but Lenny was very protective. Ollie asked, “What if you die, can I touch your submarine then?” Lenny did not answer directly only saying, “Well if you die, you’re the first kid, so then I’ll get ALL the toys!”
We had a quick lunch and headed out for our day of exploring the city in our e-bike gang.
We headed to the National Museum of Denmark which we read has a good children’s area. The basement was a variety of stuff for kids with the main area being about vikings. Wooden swords and shields were everywhere, somehow the boys played there for nearly an hour without any incidents.
We headed upstairs next but as we went up we could feel the temperature getting to be hotter than was pleasant. We survived in the history of money area for 30 minutes. The boys were very into running on a hamster wheel where they had to deliver pizzas to get money.

Next we moved on to Freetown Christiania to check it out and look for one of Thomas Dambo’s troll. We parked the bikes to walk through the town and quickly found the the troll, Green George.
The area was interesting and felt very much like a hippie commune. Art was all over the walls of buildings and there were cannibals plants growing in planters along the roads. Taking pictures is now welcome but a few years back it was not allowed. The graffiti walls let tourists know of the residents change of stance on photography.
Our next stop was CopenHill which is an artificial ski slope on the roof of an ultra-modern energy plant, also used for hiking & climbing. From our boat tour we had seen it and the guide told us that it burns so much garbage that they import garbage from other areas to keep it running.
It was late in the day so the lift to the top was closed but they had a smaller ramp with tubes for rent that the kids could ride on for 20 minutes. The boys loved this and wanted to go continuously, mostly because it was all fun for them as Kayleen and I were the ones lugging the tubes up the steps after each ride. Flying off the jump was a favorite for both of them.
Our last stop was the Reffen street food area. It is a large area near the water where old shipping containers were converted to tons of different restaurants. It was Thursday night so it was pretty busy but we found a small table in the shade. We got a round of margaritas and lemonade (sadly sparkling) before hunting for food. The boys and Jim were sold on the Danish hotdogs with Ollie taking down a fully loaded one.
We rode the bikes 20 minutes home and settled in for the night with the boys watching some TV before heading off to bed.
