We had a slow morning with breakfast and some homeschool on the boat.  We also fit in a few rounds of Risk as both boys were pleading to play a before we headed out for the day. Our Risk time was cut short when Ollie accidentally dropped his dice on the board and scattered a few soldiers across Africa.

Kyle took Ollie and the kid’s bike to the park for a riding lesson while Bri, Lenny and I made our way back to the open air flea market for vintage fashion and souvenir shopping.  We ended up with some prints and postcards as our leather jacket search for Bri was a flop.  We also got snacks and drinks at Screaming Beans again.  Kyle used a bedsheet under Ollie’s armpits while he rode the bike to hold him up and prevent crashes. He said this method drew quite a few stares but probably saved more than a few skinned knees.

After we all met back up for lunch at the big boat, me and Bri set off on a bike adventure. We biked all over town including through the red light district and eventually landed on getting pedicures to escape the heat for a bit.  Meanwhile, Kyle took the boys out on the bucket bike to check out the tulip market. They were on the hunt for some rare flowers to bring back home, but unfortunately most tulip bulbs were not allowed to be shipped back to the states.  He only found a few small bags of tulip bulbs that had been inspected and cleared to be mailed. We’re crossing our fingers that the variety bag he picked up contains at least a few black tulips. They also got caught in a brief rainstorm on the bike ride back.

The boys were still restless after their tulip market adventure and took to wrestling and flipping themselves over the couch.  Kyle remarked that it was incredible they hadn’t bumped the Risk board yet.  Less than 10 minutes later, they accidentally knocked the Risk board causing all the pieces to distort.  Ollie was the most upset and fought tears while blaming the whole ordeal on Lenny.

Pauline and Artie came over again to hang out with the boys and watch a movie.  Kyle, Bri and I returned to the cocktail bar around the corner (Hidden in Plain Sight) with Bri repeating her order from last time, Kyle with a bourbon/citrus/cashew drink and I had a fernet branca and cherry soda highball.  We then went next door to Brothers Hartering for dinner.  We had the tasting menu and introduced Bri to a bunch of new ingredients and a new one for us too— ice plant.  The food was lovely and while some ingredients were novel, most of the meal was super approachable and tasty.

We planned our night much better this go and were home by 10pm to find both kids fast asleep. We said goodnight to Artie and Pauline then Bri finished up packing as she leaves early tomorrow morning.
