A slow morning as the overcast weather left us unsure about what to do today. The kids had their normal TV time which we eventually pulled them away from for breakfast. Somehow, we manage to keep them all at the “kid’s table” during their meals in an effort to contain the avalanche of crumbs they produce.
Chris and I headed to the store to pick up some provisions. On the way we drove by a small rocky beach down the road that had a diving board. It looked like it could be fun so we added it to the list of possibilities for the day.
The kids are all into the Guess Who board game that Roy brought and continued to play each other. Not shockingly they get to the end about 30% of the time and a misunderstanding of a clue caused the correct character be eliminated.
We decided to try the driving board beach, even though it was overcast we thought the weather was warm enough. Everyone drove and I planned to take the boat to meet them in the cove. There ended up being no place to park so Chris and Lindsey dropped everyone and came back to the boat to get a ride with me.
The ride was less than 5 minutes on the boat and the crew was already getting ready for some jumps when we arrived. I dropped Lindsey and Chris off while I stayed on the boat to get some good photos of the jumps. Half the photos of jumps off the boat have just been of peoples butts! Chris and Lenny took the first leap off the board. Lenny’s streak of being fearless continues…
I thought I would be able to anchor in the cove but their were signs showing an anchor with a big red line threw it so I docked at what I think was a private dock where no one was home. I threw two crabbing lines off the boat to see what I could catch, sadly the answer was nothing. I thought I had a crab briefly but it was just fish biting the chicken thigh I was using for bait.

We had brought one fishing pole and Lenny was the only kid interested in crabbing or fishing with me. We practiced his casting and slow reeling in a few times before he wanted to try on his own. I was hoping he would catch one of the fish biting my crabbing line. I tried to give him tips on how to cast and reel in when he was solo and he eventually had enough saying, “All right already, I just need to focus now!”
Eventually we threw in the towel and rejoined the group onshore. The kids were eating snacks and picking songs to sing and dance to while Chris put on a stone skipping clinic. The overcast clouds turned to a slight drizzle and we decided it was time to head home. Everyone piled on the boat for the quick ride home.
The rain was brief and mostly stopped by the time we got back to the house. It was taco night for dinner with the kid’s getting nachos. Chris and I had found the only bottle of tequila at the liquor store this morning so the adults could enjoy some margaritas. It’s unclear if the adults were more excited for the margaritas or the kids were more excited for their ice cream cones.
