It was a rainy morning and the kids snuck in our room to get their iPads. Kyle and I slept til nearly 10am!  We all were thrilled with how the morning went.

I made a pan/Dutch baby for brunch.  A Dutch Dutch baby! While cooking, the boys snacked on a bowl of pistachios with Len struggling to open a bunch. He picked through the bowl to find loose pistachios and on finding one asks me, “This one doesn’t have shields, right?”  The boys ate their pancake with the same toppings as the pavlova– strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. Nectarines for me and Kyle.

The rain kept falling so we watched a few episodes of a lame Netflix show called All the Sharks which is some how a game show about seeing sharks. But far more tolerable than Alvin and the Chipmunks, the boys’ current favorite cartoon. To the shark show’s credit, it did also teach us that sting rays are technically sharks (just flat sharks).

Ollie and I then went to the market to get some laundry detergent and things for lunch.  We were meant to turn it into a math lesson while Kyle and Len worked on home school at the apartment.  We started some math at the store but there was soon a bathroom emergency happening and I had to rush the shopping trip to get Ollie home as soon as possible.

I looked into seeing the new Disney animated movie, but we were only able to get tickets for the newest Jurassic Park movie.  We had some concerns about Len being able to handle it but it was the only choice for the day so we went with it. The bright spot of the movie outing was the theatre– Tuschinski Theatre, an Art deco theatre in the center of town.  We saw Jurassic Park in the biggest screening hall that sat nearly 700 people.  Ollie said it reminded him of the “Hamilton theatre.” Len was fairly scared at some of the movie but would say giddily, “I like being scared!” He also wisely asked, “Why would people bring the dinosaurs to life if they’re so dangerous?”

When we got home after the movie, Kyle and Ollie somehow had the energy to practice riding the bike around the block. Me and Len stayed in the apartment and watched them through the window with Len yelling the occasional encouraging line to his brother. It was then Len’s turn for a few laps around the block before Kyle’s back gave out for the day.
