Yet another travel day is upon us but the last one for a week! The boys are excited for our first trip visitors today as Bri and her friend Amanda are meeting us in Corsica. We had a much more seamless departure for our drive to the airport then we did in Seville, my most stressful moment of the trip yet! We left a little after 6:30AM and stopped quickly on the way out of town to look at an old house/mill built across the river.
The drive to the airport was easy with almost no one else on the roads. We listened to more Harry Potter and returned the rental car without issue. Our plane tickets came with checked bags for this flight so we dropped them and made our way through security. Not having them as carry-on bags when on the discount airlines removes a level of stress.
The boys were happy to sit around watching their iPads as we waited for the boarding to start. The weather in Corsica looks great for our week, lucky us getting August weather in mid June.
The flight was only two hours and smooth except for a bumpy landing which got the pilots a round of applause once safely completed. The airport is small so our bags came out quickly and we headed to the rental car pick up. The line was long but got our car without issue. It is the same model car we returned this morning which is nice since we know how it all works.
The drive to our house was 45 minutes north up the coast. Lenny passed out for a much needed nap and we stopped for some grocery shopping that let him sleep longer. Kayleen and Ollie shopped while I sat in the car with him with the AC blasting, it was almost 100 degrees today.
Mehmet wrote back to Ollie and he was excited to get a response. He looking forward to seeing Mehmet’s house in Turkey and all the build up to some swimming races.
I headed back to the airport to pick up Bri and Amanda while the boys watched TV and Kayleen make a taco dinner. The pickup went smoothly, always easier at a small airport, and we made it back with no issues. We did pass a car that was not so lucky and being pulled out of a ditch.
The boys where thrilled for the new visitors and quick to show off their Legos and talk Pokemon. I made some margaritas for everyone and we sat down to enjoy our taco dinner and play our first 6 person Uno game. Ollie was the winner and I got second place. Lenny welcomed Amanda with a surprise hug from behind while she was making a taco to initiate her to the group.
I took my shirt off to jump in the pool, I already had my bathing suit on, and Ollie started jumping around saying he wanted to go in. I made him say it about five times and then tackled him into the pool in all his clothes. He was very surprised but also delighted that there was no need to change. Seeing this occur sent Lenny into overload. He jumped up from the table and sprinted to pool screaming with joy and jumped in, fully clothed and still holding his Uno cards. The boys stripped down to their underwear and we played in the pool (heated) for the next hour until it was time for bed.
