We finally broke Lenny with all the pool and beach time yesterday! He slept till 10AM and it would have been longer but we woke him up. Ollie was up closer to 8AM and was happy to mess around in peace with Lenny asleep. When Kayleen eventually woke Lenny up she asked him, “Do you know what time it is?” and groggily he replied, “um I forgot. Showtime???” His response being a quote from a Hamilton song, showing how ingrained it has become. Once awake Lenny happily took down his three yogurts.
I went for a walk this morning while Kayleen did the iPad school monitoring. After walking through town I made it to two different boat rental spots. At one I signed Kayleen and Ollie up for an hour sailing lesson on the 19th and the other got info for a day long powerboat rental.
On my way back to the house I walked on the beach which was very windy. I came across my sand castle from the prior day and sadly it was no more after one high tide. Will need to make the next one a little further back to see if it can last an overnight.
We completed the days home schooling when I returned. Ollie wrote his letter but it was a struggle. It took over an hour to write six sentences and he asked for constant help around word spelling. We told him he is now going to need to write his letter as soon as he wakes up.
I went in the pool with the boys for a bit before we planned to head to the beach. While we were in the pool a storm rolled in with dark clouds and thunder. Before that forced us out of the pool, and to cancel our planned beach trip, we noticed that Lenny can officially swim!!! Like most things it just clicked and he said “watch this” and could tread water.
We all migrated inside to watch some TV and the boys chose a recent version of Scooby-Doo the movie. Then as the group continued to feel lazy, and it was still rainy, we landed on Despicable Me 3 but after about 30 minutes Ollie had lost interest. The weather cleared up so Kayleen offered to take him on a walk to the beach.
Ollie was eager to stop watching Despicable Me 3, but his true motivations were to hunt Pokemon on Kayleen’s phone. They walked along the beach to a “hidden beach” she told him about. Once there, Kayleen let him hunt Pokemon only to find 12+ weird orb Pokemon floating all around them. She thought it was weird but he thought it was the CRAZIEST THING EVER. Every 5 minutes during the walk home, he would proclaim, “I CAN’T BELIEVE we were being invaded!!”

We had dinner at home and got in a game of Uno before the boys devolved. Kayleen made pesto pasta for dinner for the boys and bean salad over ricotta toast for the adults. It was very good and we also munched on the scarpaccia she had made during our movie time.
Eventually Lenny broke Ollie’s Lego and then Ollie punched him in the face. This led to a solid period of chaos but they eventually calmed down and had a dance battle before it was bedtime. Kayleen put them to bed and as she walked out of the room, she heard Lenny whisper to Ollie, “Sorry I broke your lego…”
