Another travel day! Our flight isn’t until later in the afternoon so we’ve got all morning to chill before we have to start packing. While getting ready for breakfast, Len found a stray jelly bean on the floor that had some ants on it, he goes, “Why do ants just eat anything they can find? Oh, right right, they don’t have a store!”
We had breakfast at the hotel but then walked down the street a bit to a cafe for an extra coffee and some more Uno. Len has somehow snuck up from behind to claim victory in his second Uno tournament! He definitely has a taste for winning because now whenever he loses a game he full on freaks out and throws his cards on the table or ground.
Kyle and the kids headed back to the room to start homeschool while I took the hotel tuk-tuk into town for a manicure. While leaving, the woman at front desk of the hotel told me about the boys, “Before seeing their passports I thought they were both girls! Beautiful girl faces and hair!” A super common sentiment here in Asia.
At the nail salon I opted to get a pedicure too since the prices were so reasonable. There ended up being one person working on each extremity— 4 people in total! It felt absurd and I was sure to tip them all well. I opted to walk back to the hotel to get some movement before a sedentary travel day. It was SO hot and I was drenched in sweat by the time I arrived back to the room and Kyle goes, “Walked back, huh?”
In the van on the way to the airport, Lenny has his headphones on and screams, “MOM! Colossal squid have the biggest eyes in the UNIVERSE!!” He’s been getting into listening to Octonauts mini podcasts and we’re all thrilled for him. He loves to enthusiastically shout out new facts as he learns them.
The Siem Reap airport was huge and felt super empty. We had a bit over an hour in the lounge before we needed to board the plane. The plane was also half empty and the ride uneventful.
Our guide Pan met us at the airport. We’ll be with him tomorrow and the next day for our Luang Prabang excursions. He told us he also has two daughters and we had to let him know ours are actually boys.
