The boys were ready first thing this morning to build a proper fort after a mild attempt upon arrival yesterday. They had already pulled the comforters out of the duvet to double their number of available sheets. The room is well setup for a fort with soft carpet floors, chairs, ottomans, an abundance of large decorative pillows, and two twin beds close together. I helped them with their construction after returning from the gym, which is quite nice. Once complete we had to peel them away from fort games for breakfast. It was pouring rain outside which meant a quarter of the tables at breakfast were unusable causing a 20-minute wait which we spent catching some Pokémon.
After breakfast it was time for homeschool, this should be a regular occurrence during our time in Malaysia. Lenny is reaching the end of iPad math lessons he can do on his own and now I need to spend more time monitoring each question to make sure he understands it. The lessons are well beyond PreK which is great. Ollie’s math level is also well above his reading level so we are planning to spend more time on words and reading with both of them.
We headed to lunch at a different restaurant in the resort complex. The menu is similar and they all seem to have the staple dish of chicken and beef satay. The chicken satay is very good with a spicy peanut dipping sauce and I’m sure will be a repeat order during our time here. While we waited for our food we played speed rock, paper, scissor where the winner would go around the table facing everyone until defeated. Kayleen took the boys to the kid’s club to make it in time for a painting session while I paid. To our surprise/disappointment Kayleen learned the kid’s club isn’t drop off! She was quickly informed of this as you attempted to leave…a real bummer.
I headed over to the kid’s club to oversee their painting while Kayleen took her turn at the gym. The boys were painting away in their little smocks when I arrived but their interest only lasted about 15 minutes. They played around with a few of the other little toys before we decided to head to the pool since there was a break in the rain.
We tried the pool with two water slides built into a hill. The design was great for tiring them out because they had to wade/swim from the end of the slide to the ladder then run up the steps to get back to the top. They did this for 20 minutes trying all different sliding methods while I watched from a little island in the center of the pool.
The rain was still holding off so we headed back to the kid’s club to try out whatever “Water Wars” was. Before we left earlier, they told me if it wasn’t raining, they would do it. When we arrived, they clearly had no intention of doing it but after a few comments about it not being rainy they set it up outside for us. There were two large slingshots for water balloons, each attached to a wooden stand that acted as a shield against incoming water balloons. We took a few practice shots and then I went to the other side so it was the boys against me. Kayleen met us in time to shoot a few before we ran through our water balloon quota.
The boys headed to a big inflatable slide at the pool closer to our room and loved it! The pool was deep but they had life jackets for all the kids so they could enjoy the slide without any worrying parents. There is also a small man-made beach near this pool but it is very uninviting, I doubt we set foot on it during our time here.

After the rain returned and closed down the slide, we went to the room to shower and change before checking out the bowling alley. Such a random thing to have at the resort but great for a rainy day with the kids. We grabbed a lane with bumpers and got our shoes. There was some frustration with figuring out the best way to throw the ball, the kids needed a lighter ball than they had, but we all still had fun. Lenny managed to toss his ball into the next lane more than once! I’m sure we will be back in the coming days if the rainy weather persists.
We headed to dinner at the same spot as last night. The boys were happy to get another frozen lemonade with a salted rim like last night but they must have added a little seltzer water this time. They HATE bubbles, and can detect the slightest amount, so just licked all the salt off and left the drink.
Lenny somehow passed out at dinner, an incredibly feat given the shape and comfort level of the chairs. He missed desert because of this and needed to be carried back to the room after dinner. Back in the room he woke up and whined, “desserttttt, desserttttt, desserttttt” while Kayleen put him to bed. He was denied desert and everyone went to bed to get some rest before our full day excursion tomorrow.
