Today was a sick day.  The chicken satay lunch from yesterday caused an uncomfortable night for me.  Though while writing my last post, it made me think maybe it wasn’t the satay and it was from Puto in the spa two days ago.  Either way I didn’t feel great.

Earlier in the week we found a full day mindfulness retreat at a place down the road called Surya.  Like most things we have come across here it was for an incredible price so we signed Kayleen up.  I felt good enough to handle the kids on a day that I planned to let them have an incredible amount of screen time.

After taking the boys to breakfast without me Kayleen hopped on her Scoopy and headed out.  When signing her up I thought it said there were five spots per day but when she arrived it was only her for the whole day.  The instructor was impressed that she was riding around on a motorbike by herself after only being in Bali for such a sort time.  She said the different parts of the day were all enjoyable and checked in regularly that the kids and I were surviving.

I attempted to make the boys do home school while I laid in bed but after 30 minutes, they must have sensed my weakness.  They asked me a bunch of questions about school and when they would be done.  I caved and said school was over.  They could do whatever they wanted on their iPads as long as they wore their headphones and didn’t fight.  Ollie would ask me how I was feeling every once and a while to be nice but I knew he was thrilled with the current state of things.  Eventually I woke up around 1:30PM knowing I had to get the kids lunch which would require leaving the room.  When I woke up, I saw Lenny asleep next to me in the bed.

Ollie was still merrily playing on his iPad as I gathered myself to go to a restaurant right at the end of our hotel’s driveway.  I woke Lenny up and we headed out but stopped at the front desk on our way to cancel tomorrows planned white water rafting adventure.  Heading up the driveway I was dragging Lenny…

The restaurant staff recommended we sit upstairs because it had a nice view of the mountains.  I asked them what floor the bathroom was on and when they said the first, I said we would like a table on the first floor.  Probably one of the stranger seating interactions they have had.  By the time we sat down Lenny was a half-asleep zombie and clearly also sick.  There was a couch toward the bathroom where I told him to go lay down and he slept through the entire lunch.  Our order of a smoothie, French fries, and a bread basket was about all we could handle.  Ollie eating everything except for my smoothie.  We left without any major mishaps and made it back to our room where I went back to napping, as did Lenny after some Tylenol.  Ollie continued his day of unlimited screen time, at one point telling me he was starting to get bored!

Kayleen returned shortly after 6PM and took both boys to dinner at the hotel restaurant.  I remained in bed until the morning hoping to be ready for a more adventurous day but definitely glad we cancelled white water rafting!
