Kyle and Ollie were up early to get on the fishing boat for 7am this morning. Len and I were also up early with Len asking if I remembered how mean he was last night. I did in fact remember, but told him it was water under the bridge and we were set to have a fun day. We had planned a breakfast date, mini boat adventure and ice cream while Kyle and Ollie were off fishing.

After breakfast with Len, he was enthusiastic to spend an hour at the kids’ club to do some crafts. I dropped him off and headed across the walkway to the gym for a bit. While at gym, I got a text from Kyle that Ollie was seasick so he asked for me to meet them at ~9:45am to collect Ollie. The boat was meant to stay out til 1pm but it didn’t seem Ollie was going to make it. When they arrived back, Kyle was also not feeling great so he got off the boat as well. They caught four ~10 kg mahi mahi (more commonly called dorado here) so though the trip was cut short, they saw plenty of action. They also saw quite a few flying fish which Kyle was quite impressed by. Ollie was sleeping when boat pulled in despite the small crowd that formed to scope out the crew’s catch.
The captain filleted part of a mahi for us to take to the hotel restaurant. Their crew kept the rest and shared that they sell them at market for a hundred Mauritian Rupees per kg (~$2 USD/ kg).
The resort chef made Kyle and I a simple, tasty lunch with the mahi fillet, a garlic butter sauce and veggies . He then clarified there was a good bit left over so he could make a mahi curry tomorrow for lunch as well. The boys tried the fish but made it clear that it “was not their favorite.” Though Ollie was thrilled that our catch was providing food we were happy to eat.
Ollie made a rapid sea sickness recovery while he played in the pool and we waited for our lunch. He also wanted to sing 10 duel commandments while waiting for lunch. I had to look up the exact lyrics and then he sang the evens and I sang the odds. Len parroted Ollie in the background. They haven’t watched or listened to the music in a few weeks but the obsession continues.
While we ate lunch, Len must have done 50 solo cannonballs in the pool. He would yell/scream “cannonball!!” before jumping in, much to the delight of a nearby British family and their ~2 year old son.
It started to rain after lunch, so our planned mini boat adventure was delayed until tomorrow. Despite his early wake up and bout of sea sickness, Ollie was the only one who didn’t nap. Instead, he wandered the room, opened the curtains and sighed loudly waiting for us to wake up.
After the nap, me and the boys went out to get some pre-dinner ice cream. After we ordered, the woman working there walked over to give Len an unordered additional cup filled with marshmallows and gummy candies. Ollie, aghast at his exclusion, looked stunned (“whaaaaat!”). The woman working there said she was so tickled by Lenny’s greeting (“HELLOOOOOOOOOOO!! BONJOUR!!!!!”) that she felt compelled to give him an extra treat. Ollie then redid his greeting, this time with gusto, and the woman soon prepared him his own bonus treat cup.
We ate dinner at the restaurant that serves pizzas so the boys were thrilled. While waiting for our food and playing Uno, we discussed the boys’ favorite parts of our Mauritian stay so far.

Shortly after eating but before dessert, Ollie begged to be taken home so he could go to bed. I happily obliged and took the boys back to our room to get into bed.
